Common problems
Easter lily buds dropping
Buds that drop before opening are dry air or a warm room — an easter lily is a cool-season plant and holds its buds best at fifteen to eighteen degrees, away from radiators and direct sun. Keep the compost lightly moist, every four to six days, and move it somewhere cooler. Keep it well away from cats: every part of it is seriously toxic to them.
Easter lily yellow lower leaves
Lower leaves yellowing mean the compost is being kept waterlogged, often because the pot came wrapped in foil with no drainage. Take the foil off, let it drain, and water when the surface is dry rather than keeping it wet.
Easter lily flowers over quickly
Flowers that fade within days are too much warmth — the flowers last two weeks or more in a cool room and half that in a warm one. Move it somewhere cool and bright, out of direct sun, and pinch out the orange anthers as each flower opens to keep the petals clean and make the flower last longer.
