Pet-safety information is a general guide from the ASPCA's toxic-plant database and covers cats and dogs only. "If eaten" summarises the symptoms ASPCA lists for that plant; how an animal actually reacts depends on how much it ate and on the animal. It isn't exhaustive, isn't veterinary advice, and individual animals vary — never rely on it as the sole basis for a decision about your pet. If you think your pet has eaten a harmful plant, contact a vet immediately.

Common problems
Anthurium not flowering
No flowers means too little light. An anthurium wants bright, indirect light for most of the day — a metre from a bright window, out of direct sun — and flowers most of the year when it has it. Feed lightly through the growing season and keep it warm; below fifteen degrees it stops.
Anthurium brown leaf tips
Brown tips are dry air or over-feeding — fertiliser salts building up in the compost. Raise the humidity, keep it off the radiator, flush the compost through with plenty of water every couple of months, and feed at half strength or not at all.
Anthurium yellow leaves
Yellow leaves are overwatering. It wants chunky, free-draining compost and a drink every seven to ten days in summer when the top few centimetres are dry, less in winter. Let it dry a good way down, and check the pot drains.
